Grannys Attic is my new Groovycart shop and it is currently open for browsing, but the Grand Opening is not until 1st September. There is much more than Teddy Adoption - Granny keeps everything from a single button to a near life-size Shirley Temple doll, so you never know what you might find. But mostly vintage and modern toys and general homely items. Please do go and have a look!

The bears in the orphanage have been having fun this summer, boating on the river and having picnics, but they are all very much wanting to be adopted, so have to try to look their best. Joy decided that little Threadbear needed a good wash if he hoped to find a new human friend, so she prepared a bath and insisted he get into it!
Then she gave him a good scrub, especially behind the ears!

Harry, that kindly soul, took Threadbear out for a picnic, just the two of them, to make up for the bath and to celebrate being clean!

There are two sets of twins waiting to be adopted, Charlie and Archie, and Pinky and Perky. Poor Pinky had a paw that needed stitching and had to go into the Orphanage Infirmary.
 Perky comforts his twin Pinky, waiting for an op!     Pinky and Perky have a quick cuddle together! Mid August it caused big excitement when I had a request for two of the fourteen bears to be adopted privately. I had asked the very lovely people of the online community of Purplecoo to have a look at Grannys Attic while it is under construction and a special lady fell in love with Seamus and little Threadbear (lucky he had that bath!) so these two have already started their long exciting journey to Uist. They can't wait to see their remote and beautiful new home in the Outer Hebrides - what lucky, lucky bears! |

Joy, on the other hand, is more of a homely bear. She likes nothing better
than to sort out the teddies picnic baskets
and I even caught her trying to tidy my china cabinet!

What's that I can see them doing?
Just for fun, they are seeing how many can cram into the basket!
The Orphanage is the forever home of three bears (but not Goldilocks!) - Here they are, left to right, Ted, Candy and Horatio. Ted is my husband's childhood bear and Candy is mine. Horatio was adopted in the 90s from one of the Hugglets BearFests in London - he has his own special history which we might tell one day. They are reading a postcard from another incredibly venerable bear, called Rupert, who is nearly one hundred years old, and currently staying with another family member but hopes to come home well before Christmas. Ted, Candy and Horatio sometimes join in with what the Orphanage bears are doing.... and sometimes they prefer to be on their own.

Grannys Attic has quite a few zoo animals for sale - Alexander took his brother Hugo to visit the snake. Little Hugo was nervous, and hid behind Alexander!

The bears crowd round to see the zoo animals - this was before Seamus and Threadie were adopted. Left to right the bears are - Seamus, Alexander, Hugo, Charlie and Archie, Rosie, Threadbear and Joy.

Saying goodbye to Seamus and Threadie was sad, but soon another quiet little bear arrived at the Orphanage, after a bit of an ordeal with some bullies. He's called Nisbet and here he is...

Adoption Details:
Name: Nisbet – he doesn’t know his name so is happy to go by his ‘surname’ for the time being.
Age: Not known
Physical Characteristics: Nisbet has beautiful charcoal coloured plush which is wonderfully smooth and strokeable with an almost silvery sheen to it. He has velvety fawn pads on his paws. He has amber eyes and a brown stitched nose (which is quite long and pointy). His head, arms and legs all move, and he has a nicely rounded tummy. His right ear folds forward and the left back. There are a couple of small marks on his paws which I will try to remove. His expression is a little worried (not surprising considering what he’s been through!) but he is quite an elegant medium-sized little gentleman.
Size: In the sitting position, head to bottom, about 11 inches – and head to foot about 14.5 inches.

Personality/Likes/Dislikes: Nisbet is a quiet bear. He needs someone to take the trouble to bring him out of himself. He enjoys gracious living, and would like to visit some stately homes and maybe have Afternoon Tea out. He likes well mannered children but doesn’t like raucous, noisy, rude, scruffy bears!
Past History: Nisbet has recently been with some not very nice or friendly bears who have been teasing him and calling him ‘Moley’ because they said he looks like a mole. This has made him feel a bit nervous and unsure about himself (though he is lovely!). Thankfully, I was able to take him out of that situation. He asked me to do some ‘Find Your Past’ for bears, but unfortunately I haven’t been able to discover his original name or history. It is known that Nisbet bears are of good quality, and it is obvious that Nisbet himself is a wonderful bear.
Ideal Home: Nisbet just wants to be loved and cared for by somebody kind, who will adopt him and maybe re-name him. He’d love it if you could find him a beautiful bow to wear to contrast with his unusual colour plush.

How do I adopt a bear from the Orphanage at Granny’s Attic?

Go to groovycart.co.uk.
2.
Click the green rectangle ‘I want to buy’
3.
Click ‘search for a shop’ – on the lefthand side
4.
Type Grannys
Attic in the search – and click
5.
Some of the photos of items in the Attic will come up.
Click on the green writing Grannys Attic. You will be taken to the Home Page
6.
See ‘Navigation’ in the right hand panel. Scroll down
to find Teddy Adoption, and click on it
7.
You will be taken to the page where you will see
details of all the bears currently in the orphanage
8.
Find a bear you would like to adopt. Consider the
matter carefully then...
9.
Take the Pledge! Repeat to yourself ‘I promise that I will
give this bear or bears a caring forever home’
10. Pay
the Adoption Fee, which includes Travelling Expenses
11. Wait
for your very special bear to arrive!
12. Welcome your bear and give him or her plenty of space to settle in. He or she will soon
start ‘talking’ to you, if you listen carefully.
What if the bear I wanted to adopt has already
been adopted?
If this happens, please don’t get too upset. It
was obviously not meant to be! Perhaps you could adopt one of the other bears?
- or wait and come back to Granny’s
Attic soon to see if another bear you could care for has arrived at the
Orphanage. There will always be super bears of all kinds looking for a forever
home. Your bear is travelling in time towards you, I promise you.
